What is the Opportunity Group?

The family group encourages children (0-5) with a wide range of Special Needs (physical, emotional, and sensory disabilities) to learn to play and socialise with each other, with input from professionals, such as Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Portage.

Admission to the group is usually via Doctors, Health Visitors or Parents themselves if their child has recognised Special needs. However Parents can still contact the Group if they are worried about their child and would like to talk to someone about their concerns.

The children have a one-to-one Key-worker, responsible for their care. Parents also come to the group for encouragement, advice and friendship.

The Romsey Opportunity Group is one of the few Special Needs Centres in Hampshire for this age group. No fees are charged to children/families; all monies being obtained by Donations, Fund-raising and Grants. The Group is OFSTED registered as compliant for the Care Component.

The Group meets on Tuesday and Thursday Mornings 10:00am to 12:00pm during term time only at the Appletree Centre.
